Former Major League Baseball All-Star Will Clark is well known in the state of Mississippi for his time as a college superstar. Clark will speak to a group of Boy Scouts and others in the state next month in a fundraising effort.
He was chosen as the keynote spekaer at the Choctaw Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America's 8th Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Breakfast. The event is being held on February 16th from 7:30-8:45 a.m. at the Kahlmus Center on the Meridian campus of Mississippi State University.
The banquet will be a kick-off for the year and the 2016 Friends of Scouting Campaign. Each year, the program generates around $240,000 for scouting programs,
Clark's legacy was originally crafted at Mississippi State, where he won the Golden Spikes Award in 1985. He is a member of the school's Hall of Fame as well as the College Baseball Hall of Fame and Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
After being the second overall pick of the San Francisco Giants, Clark would not dissappoint. He would go on to be a six-time All-Star and provide several big game performances throughout his career.
His penchant for big moments earned him the nickname, "Will The Thrill". Clark was MVP of the 1989 NLCS, helping the Giants advance to the World Series.
