A group out of Kingsport, Tennessee, H.O.P.E., is inviting former NFL safety Gerald Sensabaugh to speak on Sunday. They are hosting their Black History/Awards program.
H.O.P.E. stands for Helping Our Potential Evolve. The organization was founded in 2008 and they help kids and young adults from the ages of 11-19 learn essential life skills.
Sensabaugh made sense as a guest who can inspire seeing that he is a native of Kingsport. No tickets are needed for the event that begins at 3 p.m. at the Renaissance Center.
Sensabaugh played college football at East Tennessee State University and North Carolina. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
Sensabaugh spent the first four years of his career with the Jaguars before signing as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2009. He was a staple with the team for four seasons and he collected a career-high five interceptions in 2010.
In retirement, Sensabaugh has qualified for events on the Bassmaster Open Series. He is also the new head football coach at David Crockett High School.
