Abby Wambach may not be active in the soccer worldl anymore, but she remains an inspiration to women everywhere. On April 9th, she will be the keynote speaker at Georgetown University's OWN IT Summit.
The third annual event works to connect students with women in positions of leadership. Wambach will be interviewed by CBS This Morning co-anchor Norah O'Donnell during the event.
After the keynote, Wambach will receive the OWN IT Award. No time or theme has yet been finalized for her presentation.
Wambach starred for Team USA in four World Cups, finally getting her first victory in 2015. She won Olympic gold medals in 2004 and 2012.
Six times during her career Wambach was named U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year. Her 184 goals are an international record for both men and women.
In 2012, Wambach was named FIFA World Player of the Year. Last year, she was named to the TIME 100 list as one of the most influential people in the world.
