Louisville Cardinals basketball fans are getting fired up for another season. Head coach Rick Pitino will add some fuel to that fire as the keynote speaker next Tuesday at the UofL Men’s Basketball Tipoff Luncheon.
The luncheon will be held at noon in the Grand Ballroom at the Marriott Louisville Downtown. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at www.GoCards.com.
The Cardinals kick off the season against Bellarmine on November 1st at 1:30 p.m. Last season, Louisville went 27-9 and 12-6 in their first season in the ACC.
It was the sixth time Pitino had gotten a UL squad to at least the Elite Eight, including the 2012-13 team that won the NCAA title. In 14 overall seasons at Louisville, the Hall of Fame coach is 368-126.
Pitino also won a national championship with Kentucky. When adding his Final Four trip with Providence, he is the only coach to take three programs that far in the tournament.
Pitino is also one of four coaches to take a program to the Final Four in four different decades. His 722 victories currently rank him 15th in NCAA Division 1 history.
