Former Arizona State Sun Devil James Harden always likes to go back to his roots. This past weekend, Harden held his two-day Basketball ProCamp for 250 kids from the Phoenix area at Inspire Courts in Gilbert.
Campers from first to twelfth grade came out to learn basketball fundamentals and run drills that Harden selected. They also got to mingle with the NBA superstar.
It was Harden’s first camp back in Arizona after hosting yearly editions in Houston since 2012. He had two standout years at ASU and was the Pac-10 Player of the Year along with a consensus All-American in 2009.
Due to a stellar collegiate career, Harden would be selected third overall in the NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He went on to play a key sixth-man role for the Thunder for three seasons and helped the franchise advance to the 2012 NBA Finals.
Since moving to Houston via trade, Harden has truly become an NBA superstar. The three-time All-Star has made back-to-back All-NBA first teams and finished runner-up in MVP voting this past season.
He has become one of the most high-profile players off the court too. The endorsements have continued to pour in this offseason, including a 13-year, $200 million dollar deal with Adidas.
