Salina Area Chamber of Commerce Names Kansas City Royals General Manager Dayton Moore Banquet Speaker

As senior vice president of baseball operations and general manager, Dayton Moore has revitalized the Kansas City Royals. He will talk about some of his keys to business success with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce.

Moore is scheduled to speak at the chapter’s annual banquet and membership meeting on January 30th. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the arena of Tony’s Pizza Events Center.

Tickets for chamber members are $60 and non-member tickets are $85. Reservations can be made by members until November 30th and then sales to the general public begin December 1st.

Moore took over in Kansas City in 2006. He revitalized the farm system, which paid dividends when the Royals reached the World Series in 2014.

In 2015, Kansas City had the best regular season in the American League and won the World Series in five games over the New York Mets. It was a seminal moment for Moore, who grew up in Wichita rooting for the Royals.

Moore got his first job in baseball in 1994 as a scout with the Atlanta Braves. He moved his way up in the organization until finally being named assistant general manager in 2005.
