Matt Bonner may be an oft-used reserve for the San Antonio Spurs, but that has never dampened his popularity. Big Red soda is putting Bonner on bottles for a special occasion.
Sinc November, the company has been celebrating his ten-year Spurs career by selling the limited edition 2-liters in central and south Texas. The bottle is available for purchase in cities like San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi.
Bonner has had a partnership with the soda brand since last season. It made perfect sense to partner the "Red Mamba" and Big Red together.
While Bonner's role has been reduced in San Antonio, he remains an important lockerroom presence for the 56-10 Spurs. He has won two NBA championships with the franchise and been a dangerous three-point shooter at times.
In 2010-11, Bonner led the NBA with a 45.7% mark from three-point land. His marksmanship led to a social media campaign that vaulted him into the 2013 Three Point Shootout during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Bonner was originally drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2003, but traded to the Toronto Raptors. Following a stint in Italy, he played for the Raptors for two seasons for before being dealt to San Antonio.
