Former NFL running back Shaun Alexander will be this year’s guest speaker at the COX Pensacola Sports Association Annual Awards Banquet on March 18 at the Sanders Beach Community Center at 6:30 p.m. There will be more than 30 teams and people recognized at the banquet for their 2014 athletic performances this year, so it will be exciting to see who wins the Pensacola Sportsman of the Year Award. Several big names received other awards from this same organization such as Doug Baldwin of the Seattle Seahawks, Josh Sitton of the Green Bay Packers, and Bubba Watson who is famous for his golf game skills. However, the two big awards that are yet to be given out will have the winners announced at the event.

The 2005 NFC Champion got his start playing football at Alabama University, which has one of the best programs for the sport in the country. Alexander is the 7th All-Time in rushing touchdowns and spent seven seasons playing for the Seattle Seahawks from 2000-2007. He then went to play for the Washington Redskins for a season before retiring from football completely.

Alexander will be the guest speaker for the COX Pensacola Sports Association's Annual Awards Banquet later this month, and will be cheering on and congratulating the people or teams who get the Pensacola Sportsman of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards. The one-time NFL MVP of the season will have a lot of great stories and motivational words to share.
