Sports Writer Mitch Albom Closes the 2015 Westerville Library Meet the Author Series

Last week, the Westerville library in Columbus, Ohio got one of the biggest writers in sports to close out their 2015 "Meet The Author" series. Former Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom spoke to the crowd at Westerville Central High School

Albom also signed copies of his latest book, "The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto", which was released last month.  The speaker series is in its third year and has attracted notable speakers and ever growing crowds.

They have had to move their events recently from the school's auditorium to the gymnasium, effectively doubling capacity.  Already on the 2016 docket to speak is NBA all-time leading scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Albom has sold over 35 million copies of his books in his illustrious career.  His breakthrough as an author came with the New York Times best-seller, Tuesdays with Morrie.

The book detailed the thoughts of Albom's former sociology professor as he was dying from ALS.  It sold over 14 million copies and a movie adapted from the book won four Emmy Awards.

Albom also has had a lengthy career as a columnist and radio host in Detroit, Michigan.  He was named the country's best sports columnist by the Associated Press Sports Writers for 13 consecutive years.
