Springfield Sports Hall of Fame Schedules Former Major League Pitcher Jim Kaat to Speak at Banquet

Jim Kaat compiled one of the most distinguished pitching careers in baseball history. He certainly has plenty of stories to tell from his 25-year tenure in Major League Baseball. 

Kaat will get to share his tales this April as the featured speaker at the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremonies. This is the 27th annual edition of the event and it will be held at Crowne Plaza April 5th. 

Tickets to attend are $50. It will certainly be a memorable time for those going into the Hall of Fame and for all in attendance who get to hear from Kaat. 

Over those 25 big league seasons, Kaat won 283 games. He is known as one of the greatest fielding pitchers of all-time and won 16 Gold Gloves. 

Kaat originally debuted for the Washington Senators in 1959 and became a frontline star for the franchise when they moved to Minnesota two years later. He was a three-time All-Star and compiled three 20-win seasons. 

After his playing career was over, Kaat became a well-known broadcaster for 22 years with the Twins and New York Yankees. Following a brief retirement from the booth, he returned to calling games at MLB Network in 2009.
