The St. Louis Cardinals have a fanbase that stretches across wide portions of the Midwest. Manager Mike Matheny has seen the power of those fans up close as a player and manager.
Matheny will hit the road to speak to a group of those enthusiasts on January 28th. He will be speaking at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet in Peoria, Illinois at the Peoria Civic Center ballroom.
Individual tickets are $50 and tables of ten are $500. Matheny has already been to Peoria this offseason, joining former All-Star Jim Thome at an event for the Walter F. Jacob Foundation in November.
Matheny is beginning his seventh season as Cardinals manager. St. Louis has finished with a winning record each year and made four postseason appearances under his watch.
In 2013, Matheny led the Cardinals to the World Series. He finished second in National League Manager of the Year voting in 2015 and the team won 100 games during the regular season.
As a player, Matheny was a defensive stallwart at catcher and winner of four Gold Gloves. He holds the major league record with 252 straight games caught without an error.
