Winning championships brings more opportunities for players on and off the field. For Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl champion Brandon Brooks, he gets the opportunity to go back to the place that launched his football career.
Brooks has been named the commencement speaker at his alma mater, Miami University. The 179th ceremony takes place on May 19th at 1:30 p.m. in his old stomping grounds, Oxford Stadium.
Brooks is outspoken about many issues, including mental health awareness. He graduated from Miami with a bachelor's degree in psychology and has pursued coursework for his MBA while playing in the NFL.
In 2010, Brooks was part of a team that won the MAC Championship and went 10-4 after finishing the previous season 1-11. He has given back to the football program, donating money in 2016 that went towards the RedHawks' new Athletic Performance Center.
Brooks spent his first four NFL seasons with the Houston Texans after being a third-round pick in the 2012 draft. He became a starter in his second season and has made 74 starts on the offensive line in his professional career.
Brooks joined the Eagles in 2016 and was named to his first Pro Bowl this past season. He was part of a dominant line that helped Philadelphia defeat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII.
