For his Hall of Fame caliber career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hines Ward is still a revered figure in Pennsylvania. Ward will share some stories from his playing career and an inspirational message in an upcoming speaking engagement in Lancaster.
He is the keynote speaker at the LNP High School Sports All-Star Awards on May 18th. The awards banquet will be held at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex starting at 6 p.m.
The show will honor the top high school athletes in Lancaster County. Tickets are not on sale yet, but will cost $75 an include parking, dinner, and access to a meet and greet.
Ward was co-captain of the 2006 Steelers team that won Super Bowl XL. In the game, he had five catches for 123 yards, including a fourth quarter 43-yard touchdown grab.
Ward won two Super Bowls, went to four Pro Bowls, and was a three-time second-team All-Pro in 14 seasons with Pittsburgh. He retired with 1,000 catches, 12,083 yards, 85 touchdowns and every significant receiving record in team history.
In 2012, Ward was inducted into the Pittsburgh Pro Hall of Fame and his #86 is no longer issued by the Steelers. He currently serves as an analyst for NBC's "Football Night in America".
