On Saturday, Taylor University is hosting commencement. A former Taylor basketball player, Chris Holtmann, will speak at the ceremony.
Holtmann has continued to excel in the basketball world and currently serves as the head coach at Butler University. The ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. at the Kesler Student Activities Center.
There are no tickets required to attend commencement. It will be a great exercise for the Taylor graduating class to see one of their own who has had success in life speak.
Holtmann has been the head coach at Butler for three years and each season the Bulldogs have made the NCAA Tournament. This past season, he was named Big East Coach of the Year and Butler advanced all the way to the Sweet Sixteen.
Holtmann served as the head coach at Gardner-Webb for three seasons. He led the Runnin' Bulldogs to their first postseason appearance in 2013 and was named Big South Coach of the Year.
Holtmann had previously been an assistant at Gardner-Webb before coaching at Ohio for two seasons. He also had assistant coaching tenures at Geneva and Taylor.
