Tennis Icon Billie Jean King Keynotes Women & Girls Luncheon in April

Tennis icon Billie Jean King has had a legacy that transcends sports. She will speak about her life in the spotlight as the keynote speaker at the Fairfield County Community Foundation Fund for Women & Girls Annual Luncheon.

The event will be held on April 5th at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, Connecticut. Over the years, the luncheon has raised more than $5 for the women and girls in Fairfield County. 

This year, the organization is celebrating their 20th anniversary. Proceeds from this event will benefit Housatonic Community College's Family Economic Security Program. 

Jean King won 39 Grand Slam titles in either women's singles, women's doubles or mixed doubles. She won 129 singles titles and is a former world number one player. 

Jean King captured a record 20 titles at arguably the sport's most prestigious tournament, Wimbledon. She is perhaps known for taking a stand for gender equality and defeating Bobby Riggs in the 1973 Battle of the Sexes. 

Jean King is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the National Women's Hall of Fame. She is the founder of the Women's Tennis Association and Women's Sports Foundation.
