Retired Wide Receiver Terrell Owens to be Inducted into Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame

Instead of doing the normal acceptance speech in Canton, Ohio for the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year, Terrell Owens decided to return to his adopted hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee to pay tribute to those who helped build his iconic career. The former UT Chattanooga star will have another special engagement in town later this spring when he is inducted into the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame.

Owens is part of a 21-person class, but his star should shine brightest. He turned 45 last month, which is the minimum age needed for enshrinement.

The event takes place on March 4 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.  Individual tickets for the banquet are $40 and there are also tables of eight available for $320.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Owens out of UT-Chattanooga in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft. He spent 16 years in the NFL and was named a first-team All-Pro five times.

Owens ranks third in career touchdown catches and receiving yards and eighth in receptions. On three occasions, he led the NFL in receiving touchdowns.

Owens played in one Super Bowl, hauling in nine passes for 155 yards for the Philadelphia Eagles in their loss to the New England Patriots. He is still the only player in NFL history to have scored a touchdown against all 32 teams.
