Larry Bowa has a long association with the Philadephia Phillies through his playing and coaching careers. As a true fan favorite, he will make a spot outside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania this November to speak at an important fundraiser.
The Janus School is bringing Bowa in as the keynote speaker at their third annual Thanks for Giving Luncheon. The school works with students that suffer for learning differences.
On November 18th, the luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at Spooky Nook Sports. Individual tickets are $90 while sponsorship packages range in price from $900-$10,000.
Bowa currently serves as Phillies bench coach. He also had a lengthy stint as third base coach from 1989-1996, following a two-year tenure as manager of the San Diego Padres.
From 2001-2004, Bowa was the Phillies manager. He won at least 86 games in three of those seasons and was the 2001 National League Manager of the Year.
As a player, Bowa spent over a decade with Philadelphia and was a five-time All-Star. He also won two Gold Gloves and helped the franchise to victory in the 1980 World Series.
