Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert may be a bit preoccupied with his team's run to the NBA Finals. Despite this being a hectic time of year, he is still taking time out of his schedule to serve as a speaker at The Mackinac Policy Conference on Wednesday.
The Detroit Regional Chamber announced Gilbert's appearance last week. As one of the key driver's of Detroit's revitalization, he will talk about the future of the city at the conference.
The event on Mackinac Island runs May 30th-June 3rd. Gilbert is just one of the notable speakers on a list that includes entrepreneur Daymond John and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.
Gilbert has owned the Cavaliers since 2005. In that time, he has seen the franchise three Eastern Conference titles and four Central Division championships.
In the business world, Gilbert made a name as the chairman and founder for Rock Ventures and Quicken Loans. Quicken Loans has become one of the U.S. leaders in mortgage lending under his watch.
Rock Ventures has spent signifcant time investing in downtown Detroit and has bought up many historic landmark buildings in the city. Gilbert is also a noted philanthropist, joining The Giving Pledge with his wife Jennifer in 2012.
