Wheaties has made a big announcement this week in Dallas, Texas. They have unveiled golfer Jordan Spieth as the next athlete to grace their iconic cereal box.
It was fitting that Wheaties rolled the new box out in Spieth's hometown and at AT&T Byron Nelson where he made his PGA Tour debut eight years ago. The limited-edition box will be available in stores in October.
For years, landing on a Wheaties box has been a milestone moment for sports stars. Golf legends like Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Tiger Woods have found their likenesses on the box in the past.
Spieth announced his presence to the golf world in 2013. He became the first teenager to win a PGA Tour event since 1931 at the John Deere Classic and was named the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
In 2015, Spieth won his first major, the Masters, and tied Woods' 72-hole tournament record. He went on to win the U.S. Open and Tour Championship that year on the way to clinching the FedEx Cup.
Spieth has spent several weeks ranked first in the World Golf Rankings and currently sits sixth. He was named to Time's list of the 100 Most Influential People in 2016.
