Last night, some New York Yankees fans got the chance to meet top relief pitcher Dellin Betances. He made his appearance at the Steiner Sports store in the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York.
From 6:30-8 p.m., Betances signed autographs at the store. Those who made a purchase of at least $50 at Steiner Sports got a spot in the signing line.
People were also able to purchase signed items in advance. Betances' visit near the heart of Yankees country was certainly well received by those in attendance.
Betances has made the last three American League All-Star teams and recorded at least 100 strikeouts each season. So far in his career, he boasts an ERA of 2.16 and 404 strikeouts in 254.2 innings pitched.
In 2011, Betances made his big league debut with the Yankees when he was still a starter. After that, he was transitioned to the bullpen and made some appearances in 2013 before playing his first full major league season in 2014.
New York originally selected him out of high school in the eighth round of the 2006 MLB Draft. Betances grew up in Washington Heights, New York and is a lifelong Yankees fan.
