Throughout his career, two-time NBA champion Shane Battier was known as a great team player. He is joining an entirely different roster as he starts work on a new campaign for Pizza Hut.
The pizza delivery juggernaut is promoting their role as the official pizza partner of the NCAA. They are giving someone the title of Pizza Hut All-American.
Battier is helping get the world out about the contest that runs through November 6th. People can submit applications for the role which sends them to all Division 1 championships during the 2016-17 athletic season and pays $50,000.
Fittingly, Battier became a national name as an All-American at Duke University. In 2001, he won several of the national player of the year awards and was the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player as the Blue Devils went on to win the title.
Following Battier's impressive college career, the Memphis Grizzlies selected him with the sixth overall pick in the NBA Draft. He averaged a career-best 14.4 points per game as a rookie and established himself as an excellent defender during five seasons with the Grizzlies.
Battier would build upon his reputation as the perfect role player with the Houston Rockets and later would win two NBA titles with the Miami Heat before retiring in 2014. Last year, he worked as a college basketball analyst for ESPN.
