With Copa America Centenario being hosted in the U.S., the country is right now in the midst of soccer fever.  U.S. men's national team legend Landon Donovan kept fanning the flames of excitement on Monday when he made a special appearance in one of the host cities. 

Donovan was in Chicago to visit with fans at a local Sprint store as part of the festivities.  From 5-7 p.m., he participated in a meet and greet at the store in Thompson Square. 

in addition to Donovan's appearance, Sprint gave away tickets to Friday's U.S. vs. Costa Rica match.  The communications company has a large presence across the country at Copa America, offering a fan experience zone at 27 matches and partnering with Uber to provide 50 percent off rides to stadiums.  

Donovan retired two years ago, but his presence still looms large over the sport.  He is the U.S.'s all-time leader in scoring and assists while ranking second in caps. 

Donovan is the only man to be named U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year four times.  He also has an American record five goals in World Cup play. 

While Donovan's national team accomplishments are impressive, his club career highlights are just as outstanding.  He is the MLS all-time leading scorer and a six time league champion.
