Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright is returning to his alma mater as a success. He will speak at Bucknell University's Walling Speaker Series on September 21st.
The event takes place at 7 p.m. in the Trout Auditorium, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. It is presented by the school's College of Management and free and open to the public.
Wright is a Bucknell Class of 1983 graduate. He was an ideal choice for the series that brings alumni back to speak in an on-stage interview format about their careers and leadership.
Wright has been the head coach of the Wildcats since 2001 and compiled a 386-161 record. He has led Villanova to 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2016 NCAA Championship.
The Wildcats have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen on five occasions under Wright's watch. He was named the Naismith National Coach of the Year twice and is a five-time Big East Coach of the Year.
Wright began his head coaching career at Hofstra, where he made back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2000 and 2001. He was named America East Coach of the Year each season.
