Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker is scheduled to speak at a baseball event in his home state next month. He is giving a special presentation at Cal State Bakersfield's Baseball Hot Stove Dinner.
The fourth annual dinner will be held on January 14th at the Kern County Fairgrounds. Proceeds raise benefit CSBU's baseball program.
There are 500 seats available, individual tickets are $100 and interested parties can also purchase table sponsorship packages. Previous speakers for the event that has always sold out include baseball luminaries Tommy John, Mike Scioscia and Tommy Lasorda.
In his first year as the skipper in Washington, Baker led the Nationals to a National League East Division title. Overall, he has won 1766 games and seven division titles over a 22-year managerial career.
During his ten seasons with the San Francisco Giants, Baker won three National League Manager of the Year awards. His 2002 Giants club made it to the World Series.
Prior to becoming a first base coach with the Giants in 1988, Baker had a distinguished playing career. He was a two-time All-Star, the 1977 National League Championship Series MVP and a World Series champion with the Dodgers in 1981.
