Next Friday, Western Michigan football coach Tim Lester will try to impart some lessons from the football field to members of the local business community. He is speaking at the Mercantile Bank of Michigan Breakfast Speaker Series.
The title of Lester's presentation is "WMU Football: Culture Wins." Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. and the formal program begins at 8 a.m. on the WMU campus in 2150 Schneider Hall.
The event is being hosted by the Haworth College of Business. It is free and open to the public, but reservations are required in advance.
Lester is a WMU alum who went 6-6 in his first season as head coach of the Broncos. He joined the program after four seasons as an assistant at Syracuse and Purdue.
Lester was previously a head coach on the Division III level at Elmhurst College from 2008-12 and at Division II Saint Joseph's in 2004. He had a prior stint on the coaching staff at Western Michigan, coaching quarterbacks for two seasons.
Lester was a quarterback during his playing career and he led the Broncos to a Mid-American Conference championship as a senior. He set 17 school records and is a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
