Each year, the Broward College Speaker Series in South Florida brings in some big names.  Perhaps no high-profiler guest will grace the stage this year than recent World Cup star Carli Lloyd.

Lloyd kicks off this year’s series with her speech tonight at the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.  The event starts at 7:30.

Tickets to hear Lloyd speak are $50.00 and a pass to attend sessions with all four speakers on the schedule is $200.  The Broward College Speaker Series is presented by Hoffman’s Chocolate in partnership with the Broward Center.

Lloyd was the star of this summer’s Women’s World Cup, amassing six goals and winning the tournament’s Golden Ball Trophy.  She had three goals alone in the final as the U.S. throttled Japan 5-2.

Lloyd also loomed large during Team USA gold medal runs at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.  She had an overtime goal to lift the squad over Brazil in the 2008 final and had each of the team’s two goals in the 2012 gold medal match. 

Her heroics this July however have truly vaulted Lloyd into the national spotlight.  She has an endorsement deal for the 2016 Olympics with Visa, helped her professional team, the Houston Dash, set attendance records, and has been on a whirlwind tour of appearances since getting her medal in Canada.
