Law enforcement officers in one Texas community are getting a special treat this month. Famed wrestler Hacksaw Jim Duggan will speak at the East Montgomery County Improvement District's Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner in New Caney, Texas.
The dinner will be held on February 22nd at 7 p.m. at the EMCID Complex. Officers from several local branches will be recognized for their contributions.
Members of the public can attend the event and hear Duggan's speech. Tickets cost $20.
Duggan was often seen as a hero in the ring for his patriotic theme and the American flag he sported with him in competition. Familiar refrains of "USA! USA! USA!" would always ring out when he competed.
While competing in WCW, Duggan was a one-time winner of the United States Heavyweight Championship and World Television Championship. He competed in and won the first-ever Royal Rumble match in the WWF in 1988 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
Duggan played college football at Southern Methodist University and it was at the school where he was originally discovered to entering the wrestling business. Currently, he is signed to Global Force Wrestling and the WWE on legends deals.
