Wrestling Legend Dan Gable Attends Autograph Signing at Battle of Waterloo this January

Waterloo, Iowa could be considered the wrestling capital of the world and no man is more synonymous with the sport than Dan Gable.  This January, Gable will make a special appearance centered around one of the highlights on the annual wrestling calendar. 

He will be doing an autograph signing during the renowned Battle of Waterloo wrestling tournament.  Gable will be at Young Arena on January18th at 2 p.m. to sign copies of his new book, "A Wrestling Life: The Inspiring Stories of Dan Gable", along with other items.

The event will be taking place just blocks from The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum.  Gable's book will be available for the reduced rate of $20 and posters can also be purchased on-site for $10.

Gable gained national notoreity for his gold medal run through the 1972 Olympics.  He did not surrender a point during the tournament.  

Following that triumph, Gable became arguably the most successful coach in wrestling history.  His Iowa Hawkeye teams won 15 team,titles and 45 individual championships.

Gable retired as Iowa's head coach in 1997, but has stayed active with the program and the sport.  He formed the Committee for the Preservation of Olympic Wrestling and led the charge for the sport's return to the Summer Games.
