In the post-Derek Jeter era, New York Yankees fans are looking for the next superstar that will carry the franchise.  They may have found one in standout rookie Gary Sanchez. 

With Sanchez's popularity surging, he was part of an autograph signing in Garden City, New York.  The signing was held at the Steiner Sports store in the Roosevelt Field Mall. 

The signing was a huge hit and now Steiner Sports is doing a Sanchez giveaway on their website.  There is an entry to win a signed "Big Sig" photo from the event. 

Since being recalled by the Yankees last month, Sanchez has been on a historic tear.  He is currently hitting .333 with 19 home runs and 38 RBI and is the fastest player in the modern era to reach that homer plateau. 

Sanchez won two American League Player of the Week awards in August.  He was also the AL Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month. 

Sanchez made his 2016 debut for one game in May after getting two at-bats late in the 2015 season.  Last year, he was a participant in the All-Star Futures Game and then led the Arizona Fall League in home runs.
