Amazon enlisted the help of two NBA TV broadcasters to promote their hands-free home speaker Echo during the NCAA Tournament. Basketball greats Grant Hill and Steve Smith appeared in a successful ad campaign for Amazon Echo.
The spot titled "Seven Steps" features Hill chastising Smith for being a couch potato. All through the interaction, Smith is getting feedback from the Echo.
According to iSpot.tv, the commercial had 38 national airings during March Madness. Certainly, it made perfect sense to pair up two former players who went up against each other often on the court.
For a period of time, Hill was considered the NBA's best player. He was a seven-time All-Star and five-time member of the All-NBA first or second team.
Hill was originally drafted third overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1994 NBA Draft after a standout career at Duke. With the Blue Devils, he was a consensus All-American, ACC Player of the Year, and won two NCAA championships.
Smith achieved great success over 14 NBA seasons. After being the fifth overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft, he was one of the first stars of the Miami Heat franchise.
Smith also had a successful five-year run with the Atlanta Hawks. He made his only All-Star appearance while a member of the franchise in 1998.
