For a team built on versatility and depth, it was fitting that Andre Iguodala walked home with the NBA Finals MVP award following the Golden State Warriors Game 6 triumph over the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

After being a starter throughout his NBA career, Iguodala had been relegated to bench duty all season until Game 4 of the Finals.  That proved to be a turning point in the series, as the Warriors would go on to wins in the next three games.

Iguodala averaged 16.3 points, four assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game in the Finals.  He also importantly was the primary defender on LeBron James throughout.

Although James had a historic series in his own right, Iguodala held him to 38.1 percent shooting when he was on the floor.  Out of the 11 media votes for MVP, Iguodala won the award by a 7-4 margin over James.

With his win, the often-overlooked player is bound to get more publicity.  Iguodala was a 100-1 shot to win Finals MVP before the series kicked off. 

During his 11 seasons in the league, he has long been regarded for his strong perimeter defense.  In Iguodala’s first season with the Warriors in 2013-14, he was named to the All-Defensive First-Team. 

He spent the first eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he was an All-Star in 2012.  That same year, Iguodala helped Team USA to Olympic gold.
