Charlotte Hornets Star Kemba Walker Hosts His Youth Basketball Camp

The NBA offseason is still a busy time for many players, but Kemba Walker got to take some time out this week to instruct basketball hopefuls from the Charlotte area.  Walker hosted his Basketball ProCamp at Carolina Courts.

There were 200 kids on hand who got to learn from the Hornets star.  The two-day camp, sponsored by Academy Sports and Outdoors, ran from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. each morning.

Walker battled a meniscus tear in 2014-15, but still finished with 17.3 points per game in 62 appearances.  He also earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors after averaging 30.3 points during a four game stretch in January.

Now entering his fifth year in the league, Walker is hoping to lead Charlotte back to the playoffs.  In his one NBA postseason appearance, he averaged 19.5 points, six assists, and shot 47% in a 2014 first round series against the Miami Heat.

That certainly was not Walker’s only standout performance on a big stage.  While a college star at UConn, he led the Huskies to the 2011 NCAA Championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
