The Elizabethtown/Carter County Boys and Girls Club is already making preparations for this summer's Steak 'N' Burger Fundraiser. They have enlisted the help of Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who will serve as guest speaker.
The event takes place on June 14th at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. There will be more information released in the coming weeks.
Witten is an Elizabethtown native who hosts a free camp for local kids each summer. Organizers for the fundraiser moved it from its usual date to match when he will be in town for the camp.
Witten has spent his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys since they selected him in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He has been selected to 11 Pro Bowls and is a four-time All-Pro.
Witten currently ranks second among tight ends in NFL history with 1,152 receptions and 12.448 receiving yards. He holds Cowboys franchise records in both categories.
Witten holds an impressive streak of playing in 239 consecutive games. He is also an impactful presence off the field and was the winner of the 2012 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
