Tennis great Venus Williams has left an undeniable impact on the sports world. She will talk about her remarkable career this spring at the Des Moines Register Sports Awards.
The banquet takes place on June 23rd at the Wells Fargo Arena. At the third annual event, over 750 student-athletes from around the state will be honored for their achievements.

Williams has been ranked number one in the world on three occasions for a total of 11 weeks. She has also been a dominant doubles player when teamed with her sister, fellow tennis superstar Serena.
The Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals. Williams five Olympic medals tie her for the record of most medals won by a tennis player.
