Former NBA standout Muggsy Bogues has the unique opportunity to speak at the University of Guam this week. On Friday, he will be their 30th speaker in the school's President Lecture Series.
Bogues is speaking at 5:30 p.m. in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. His lecture is titled, "In the Land of Giants: My Life in Basketball."
The lecture is open to the public, but seating is limited. It should be a great opportunity to learn from one of the most inspirational players in NBA history.
Despite being only 5'3", Bogues was able to shine in pro basketball for 14 seasons. He retired in 2001 inside the top 20 in all-time assists leaders.
Bogues played for four different franchises, but is best remembered for his decade-long run with the Charlotte Hornets. He leads the franchise in career categories like minutes played, assists and steals.
After his career ended, Bogues coached the WNBA's Charlotte Sting for three seasons. He is currently a high school boys basketball coach at United Faith Christian Academy.
