Damon Stoudamire dazzled NBA crowds on the court for 13 seasons, but recently he has been building an excellent coaching resume.  On Monday, the University of Memphis announced they would be bringing Stoudamire back for his second stint as an assistant.

He was previously with the Tigers from 2011-13.  During that span, Memphis went to two NCAA Tournaments and had a 57-14 record. 

Stoudamire has most recently been an assistant at his alma mater Arizona.  The Wildcats have had back-to-back 30-win seasons, two regular season Pac-12 titles, and two trips to the Elite Eight.

Stoudamire’s coaching career started as a player development coach at Rice.  He also was an assistant for two seasons in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies. 

As a point guard, Stoudamire had success right from the start.  He was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1995.  In his second season, Stoudamire averaged a career best 20.2 points per game. 

Prior to being the seventh pick in the 1994 NBA Draft, he was a collegiate star at Arizona.  Stoudamire made three All-Pac 10 first teams and was a consensus first-team All-American as a senior.
