The Ripken's All-Star fiction book series has become quite a hit with kids. On Wednesday, March 2nd, the series namesake, Cal Ripken Jr., will hold a book signing and fireside chat with the Howard County Library System.
He will be in Ellicott City, Maryland at the new Miller Branch library to discuss and sign copies of "The Closer". Registration for the event that begins at 4:45 p.m. on March 2nd goes live at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.
There will be a limit of 300 free tickets, but the event will also be streamed live. Out of those 300, 200 individuals will be able to purchase a book on-site for $13 that can be signed by Ripken.
Ripken is one of the most revered players in baseball history. His 2,632 consecutive games played streak transcended the game and tought people everywhere lessons about hard work and determination.
While the streak dominates the career narrative of Ripken, he was also an impactful force when he stepped on the field. Over his 21 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, he collected 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and 1,695 RBI.
Ripken was a two-time American League Most Valuable Player, a 19-time All-Star and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. In retirement, he is CEO of the successful Ripken Baseball Inc. and operates the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation.
