Now in its 17th year, The Celebrity Championship hosted by Marshall Faulk returns May 29-31.  The tournament will be held at Morgan Run Resort & Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California. 

The first two days of the event feature a Celebrity-Amateur tournament, while a celeb only 36-hole contest will take place after.  There are several other activities such as nightly parties, autograph signings, and kids’ clinics surrounding the three days. 

The tournament has raised $1.5 million since starting in 1999.  This year, proceeds will benefit the Marshall Faulk Foundation and the Junior Seau Foundation.

Some already tabbed to participate include NHL legend Jeremy Roenick, former NBA center Alonzo Mourning, and Alfonso Ribeiro who is best known as Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  Tickets for the tournament along with other information can be found at www.celebritychampionship.com. 

Faulk is one of the best all-around running backs in NFL history.  He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. 

No other back has ever recorded over 12,000 rushing yards and 6,000 receiving yards.  Faulk was a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro.

His #28 was retired by the St. Louis Rams and his name sits in the Indianapolis Colts’ Ring of Honor.  Faulk played for the Rams in the franchise’s best years and helped them win Super Bowl XXXIV.

He is now an analyst on the NFL Network.  Faulk also spends his time as an active member of the greater San Diego community hosting various events like this golf tournament that benefit the town that saw him become a three-time All-American while at San Diego State.
