Next month, Charlotte Hornets All-Star Kemba Walker will host a youth basketball camp for area kids. The Kemba Walker Basketball ProCamp takes place August 4-5.
The camp will be held at the Carolina Courts in Indian Trail each day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Boys and girls from grades 1-12 will receive excellent instruction on the fundamentals of basketball.
Registration to attend is $149. In addition to coaching, campers will receive a Walker autograph, team photo and camp t-shirt.
Walker has become a foundational piece for the Hornets since being selected ninth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. Last year, he truly became a superstar, earning his first All-Star bid.
For the season, Walker averaged 20.9 points per game. He also had two 30 point games in the playoffs, helping the Hornets push the Miami Heat to seven game in the first round.
Walker showed a propensity for putting a team on his back when he was a college star at UConn. In his final season, the Huskies won the NCAA championship and was named Most Oustanding Player of the Final Four.
