Jackie Joyner-Kersee Named Speaker at the Champions for Children Luncheon

Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner Kersee is going to be the guest speaker at Chattooga County’s Boys & Girls Club for the “Champions for Children” luncheon on March 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Save-A-Lot Shopping Center in Chattooga County, Georgia. Being that she is a former member of the Boys & Girls Club herself, Kersee has dedicated herself to attend events like this to support the organization throughout the country. In order to attend the event tickets must be purchased at $25 per person, or $300 per sponsor table with eight seats and comes with a fantastic lunch meal.

The East St. Louis native has medaled in four Olympic games over the years, bringing home three gold, one silver, and two bronze for the long jump and heptathlon in Seoul, Los Angeles, Barcelona, and Atlanta. In addition to that, she has four gold medals for the same events in four World Series games and a gold in the 1987 Indianapolis Pan American games.Kersee is the current world record holder for the heptathlon event and has achieved several long jump scores in the planet’s top best too. She and several other athletes including Mohammad Ali, Tony Hawk, and Cal Ripken founded an organization in 2007 called “Athletes for Hope”, in which these big names donate their time to charitable causes.

Kersee is a big supporter for the Boys & Girls Clubs, which is likely one of the main reasons she is coming to Chattooga County on March 26th to give a speech at their “Champions for Children” event. She will likely be discussing that it takes to inspire children to become better athletes and grow into great people, and offer tips and tools they can use to reach their own goals and success. The event will include a fantastic meal that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
