Jennie Finch Gives the Keynote Speech at the 2nd Annual Semoball Awards

This past Saturday, Olympic softball gold medalist Jennie Finch was in the spotlight again.  Finch was tabbed as the keynote speaker for the second annual Semoball Awards held at Southeast Missouri’s State River campus.

Finch inspired the student-athletes assembled by sharing stories of successes and failures from her high-profile career.  The Semoball Awards honors a series of high school athletes in the local area.

Finch had a busy weekend as she immediately headed to Cincinnati for Sunday’s All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game that is regularly apart of MLB All-Star festivities.  Both events represent just a fraction of the appearances she still does annually even after retiring from competitive softball in 2010.

The two-time Olympian is one of the most popular softball players of all-time. Finch burst on the scene during her junior year at the University of Arizona, where she went a perfect 32-0 in the circle and led the Wildcats to a national championship.

At UA, Finch set numerous school and NCAA records.  Her #27 jersey was retired in 2003.

Outside of her speeches, she has continued to make through her charity efforts and softball camps.  Finch also co-wrote “Throw Like a Girl: How to Dream Big and Believe in Yourself” in 2011.
