NBA Vet Shaun Livingston Holds Basketball Clinic for At-Risk Youth in Illinois

NBA veteran point guard Shaun Livingston always remembers to go back home.  This week, he has been in Peoria, Illinois at his alma mater, Central High, for the 2015 Pride of Peoria Basketball Clinic.

The camp ran Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day.  It serviced at-risk youth in the area through The Shaun Livingston Foundation.

Also during the week, Livingston made a stop by minor league baseball’s Peoria Chiefs to throw out the first pitch.

Livingston has had NBA longevity and just concluded his 13th season in the league.  He won his first championship this past season with the Golden State Warriors.

During the playoff run, Livingston appeared in 21 games and averaged 17.9 minutes per.  It was just his third trip to the postseason.

Livingston was originally the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.  He battled through several injuries in his career to come out on the other side as a productive NBA player.

It was in Peoria though that Livingston garnered his fame.  He was a McDonald’s All-American, Mr. Basketball in Illinois, and led Central to two straight state titles.
