The Women of the West Film Festival is taking place this week at The State Theatre in Modesto, California. On Saturday, Olympic gold medalist Ruthie Bolton will keynote the third annual event.
The day features a screening of the documentary "Mighty Ruthie." In addition to speaking, Ruthie will also sign autographs and hold a book signing.
The event begins with a buffet at 5:30 p.m. and the film will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to attend are $15 with a special student rate of $12.
Bolton was one of the early stars of the WNBA, playing with the Sacramento Kings from 1997-2004. She was an All-Star in 1999 and 2001 and was named to the All-WNBA First-Team in 1997.
Bolton also won Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 1996 and 2000. In retirement, she has spent time in coaching and working in the Monarchs front office.
Bolton is also an outspoken advocate against domestic violence. She has been part of the U.S. State Department's SportsUnited Sports Envoy program.
