There is no question that Orlando City Soccer is the current toast of Central Florida. One of the club’s stars is stopping by Academy Sports + Outdoors in Melbourne Saturday to spread the excitement.
Brek Shea will be at the Academy Sports at 4285 Norfolk Parkway in West Melbourne from 1:30-3:00 p.m. for a meet and greet. Orlando City’s mascot Kingston and the street team will also be present to get the crowd fired up for Sunday’s match against D.C. United.
Fans can register to win tickets to the game and also $25 gift cards. One lucky shopper will also win an Orlando City tailgate package.
In addition to his starring role in MLS, Shea also competes for the U.S. men’s national team. He has made 33 appearances for Team USA since 2010.
Prior to joining Orlando City, Shea spent the previous two seasons in the English Premier League. He was sent to Stoke City from MLS in 2013 for a $2.5 million fee.
Shea experienced his greatest success through the first five seasons of his career with FC Dallas. In 2011, he scored 11 goals, made the MLS All-Star team, and led the club to their second straight postseason appearance.
FC Dallas took Shea with the second pick of the 2008 SuperDraft. The College Station, Texas native was a Generation Adidas player and went straight to MLS out of high school.
