Orlando Touchdown Club Holds Special Event Tonight with College Football Icon Steve Spurrier

There are not many people the Orlando Touchdown Club would host a special event for, but college football icon Steve Spurrier is certainly one of them.  While they hold regular Monday meetings during football season, tonight the "Ol' Ball Coach" will be on-hand.

The discussion is taking place at the regular event site, The Tap Room at Dubsdread Golf Course.  It begins with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

While the event is now near capacity, tickets for members and guests to attend is $75.  Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi will co-host the event and speak with Spurrier.

Spurrier built his coaching legacy during 12 seasons at his alma mater, the University of Florida.  The former Heisman winner as a player took the Gators to heights previously unseen by the program.

Florida won six Southeastern Conference titles and their first national championship in 1996 under Spurrier's watch.  After a stint in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, he returned to the SEC to coach South Carolina.

Spurrier also elevated the Gamecocks, winning 11 games three straight times from 2011-2013.  He retired from coaching midway through last season and now serves as a special ambassador and consultant for the Florida athletic department.
