Portland Trail Blazers Star Damian Lillard Hosts Camps For Over 600 Kids

Portland Trail Blazers’ All-Star Damian Lillard knows a thing or two about hard work.  Lillard’s main objective was to instill that value into kids at his basketball camp in Portland over the past two weeks.

The camp and its’ namesake have become the hit of The Rose City.  The Damian Lillard Basketball Camp, held at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA, has two split sessions that have accommodated over 600 kids from the ages of 6-16 in eight days.

Lillard was hands on throughout, teaching life lessons and basketball skills.  Other fun activities like dunk contests, rap battles, and even a screening of the movie “Ant-Man” highlighted the lighter moments of the camp.

With the departure of fellow All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge, there is no question that Lillard is the face of the Blazers franchise.  Upon signing a five-year, $120 million contract extension earlier this month, he became the highest-paid player in team history.

Through three NBA seasons, Lillard has averaged 20.2 points and 6.1 assists per game.  The two-time All-Star has also been a clutch performer in two playoff appearances.

In his first ever postseason series, Lillard hit a game-winning three pointer in Game 6 of the first round to send the Blazers to the next round.  Despite being a relative unknown out of Weber State, Portland selected him sixth overall in the 2012 NBA Draft and he went on to win Rookie of the Year honors.
