Lane College got a big name from the world of sports to help them with fundraising efforts for their athletic program. Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Reed spoke at their dinner with the pros on Saturday night at Oman Arena.
Most of the proceeds raised are going towards the effort to renovate the college's 96-year-old stadium. Reed's appearance was made possible by his former Buffalo Bills teammate and Lane College coach Derrick Burroughs.
Reed talked about how character and respect were two traits that propelled him to success. There was also a silent auction to help raise money at the dinner.
Reed spent 15 of his 16 NFL seasons with the Bills and helped the franchise make four consecutive Super Bowls. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time second-team All-Pro.
Reed still ranks 12th all-time on the career receptions list and 17th in receiving yards. He caught 951 passes for 13,198 yards and 87 touchdowns.
In 2014, Reed was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Bills Wall of Fame and the franchise's 50th Season All-Time Team.
