Seattle Seahawks legend Steve Largent is still a name that carries weight in the Pacific Northwest. On Thursday, he paid a special visit to Pasco, Washington.
Largent was there to speak at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties annual Dinner with Friends fundraiser. The event was held at the TRAC Center.
Earlier in the day, Largent went to the Boys & Girls Club branch. He spoke to almost 100 children and staff members in the gymnasium about blocking out negative information and focusing on positive things.
Largent spent his entire 14-year NFL career with the Seahawks. Playing for an expansion franchise, he quickly established himself as the team's first star.
Largent made seven Pro Bowls and one of the All-Pro teams seven times. On two occasions, he led the league in receiving yards.
Largent was the first player to have his jersey retired by Seattle and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Following his playing career, he represented Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1994-2002.
