Utilityman Brock Holt may not know which position he is going to play on any given day for the Boston Red Sox, but that has not prevented him from accomplishing some impressive feats.  Holt’s latest was hitting for the cycle on Tuesday in a win over the Atlanta Braves.

In doing so, he became the first Red Sox player to get the cycle since John Valentin in 1996.  Holt had a single in the first inning, a double in the fifth, a home run in the seventh, and capped the day with a triple in the eighth. 

Last year, Holt became the first player in Boston history to make a start at seven different positions in one season.  The only spots that he did not see action at were pitcher and catcher. 

This season, he has started a game at each of those seven positions yet again, while also swinging a hot bat.  Holt is hitting .314 through 50 games. 

Holt got his first significant big league action last year and hit .281 over 106 games.  That performance placed him eighth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Originally debuting with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2012, Holt was traded to the Red Sox following the season.  He was a ninth round draft pick out of Rice in the 2009 MLB Draft.
