San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon is one of the most prominent women in sports. She will talk about her career at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College next week.
Hammon is kicking off The Penn State Behrend Speaker Series on Wednesday. Her presentation is titled, "ASSIST: The Keys To Successful Leadership & Teamwork."
The session is free and open to the public and it begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Junker Center on campus. Hammon's appearance is made possible by the Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund.
In 2014, Hammon became the NBA's first full-time female assistant coach. The following year, she served as the Spurs' head coach during NBA Summer League and led the team to the title.
Hammon had a standout playing career in the WNBA and was a six-time All-Star. She was also a four-time All-WNBA pick and led the league in assists in 2007.
Hammon was named one of the WNBA's Top 15 Players of All Time in 2011 and to the WNBA Top 20@20 list in 2016. Her jersey is retired by the San Antonio Stars.
